R-77-X1RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, DEERFIELD FAMILY DAY is a day devoted to
activities for all residents - young and old - of the Village of Deerfield,
beginning at 7:00 A.M. and continuing through the day to the fireworks
display after dark; and
WHEREAS, because of the efforts of so many devoted people,
JULY 4th is a day to which we all look forward with great anticipation;
and
WHEREAS, the members of the DEERFIELD FAMILY DAY
BOARD and the many, many people who volunteered to assist with
the various activities deserve the deep appreciation of everyone who
participated and enjoyed the FOURTH OF JULY in Deerfield:
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Mayor and Board
of Trustees of the Village of Deerfield, that special thanks be given
to DEERFIELD FAMILY DAY, INC., for providing us with the best
day of the year; and we also express our gratitude to the following,
who contributed greatly to the success of DEERFIELD FAMILY DAY:
DEERFIELD POLICE DEPARTMENT, DEERFIELD PUBLIC
WORKS DEPARTMENT, DEERFIELD- BANNOCKBURN
FIRE DEPARTMENT and THE DEERFIELD BUSINESS
COMMUNITY.

RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the DEERFIELD JAYCEES are young, athletic,
sports minded residents of Deerfield and surrounding areas; and
WHEREAS, in a moment of overconfidence, the DEERFIELD
JAYCEES challenged the Mayor and Board of Trustees of the Village
of Deerfield to a softball game, to be played on July 4, 1977; and
WHEREAS, with the assistance of designated hitters,
designated runners and designated fielders, the Village of Deerfield's
team defeated the DEERFIELD JAYCEES handily; and
WHEREAS, the umpires showed great intelligence and
unbiased judgment:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and
Board of Trustees of Deerfield that the coming year be designated
as DEERFIELD JAYCEES RECRUITMENT YEAR, during which
period all residents having strong constitutions, good coordination,
excellent eyesight and good timing be urged to join the DEERFIELD
JAYCEES in case said JAYCEES should issue a similar challenge
on July 4, 1978.
