AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 20 OF
THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF DEERFIELD
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF
THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD, LAKE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION That Section 20.339 of Article III of Chapter 20
ONE: of the Municipal Code of Deerfield of 1963, as
amended, be and the same is hereby further
amended by striking said Section in its entirety.
SECTION That Section 20.338 of Article III of Chapter 20
TWO: of the Municipal Code of Deerfield of 1963, as
amended, be and the same is hereby further amended
by deleting said Section in its entirety and substituting in lieu
thereof the following:
1120.338 Truck Traffic Restrictions.)
"(a) Definitions.
"1. A truck, as used in this Section, shall mean any
vehicle designed for the transportation of property.
112. A class of trucks shall mean any group of trucks
which hereinafter may be classified by weight, height,
length or width or other common characteristic.
"(b) Prohibited truck traffic.
It is unlawful to operate a truck or a class of trucks
on any of the streets or parts of streets hereinafter
named as streets or parts of streets on which truck
traffic or a class of truck traffic is prohibited,
except that the operation of a truck on any street in the
Village shall be permitted where necessary in the conduct
of lawful business to reach a destination point, provided
that only streets upon which truck traffic or such truck's
class of truck traffic is permitted, are used until
reaching the intersection nearest such point of desti-
nation and that upon leaving the point of destination such
truck shall return from the point of destination to the
nearest street on which truck traffic or its class of
truck traffic is permitted--'by the shortest possible route.
"(c) Restricted Streets.
The following streets or parts of streets are
hereby designated as streets upon which truck
traffic, generally, or traffic of a particular
class of trucks indicated is prohibited:
Longfellow Avenue
Hermitage Drive
Deerfield Road between the westerly corporate
limits of the Village and Waukegan Road
(prohibited to trucks exceeding 12 feet
in height and whose point of destination
is on the far side of the Chicago, St.
Paul & Milwaukee Railroad underpass
from the point of entry onto Deerfield
Road).
"(d) Signs.
The Village Manager shall cause adequate signs to be
posted giving notice of such restrictions on truck traffic
as are hereinabove provided."
SECTION
That all ordinances or parts of ordinances

in conflict herewith are, to the extent
of such conflict, hereby repealed.
SECTION
That the Village Clerk is hereby directed
FOUR:
to publish this Ordinance in Pamphlet
form.
SECTION
That this Ordinance shall be in full
FIVE:
force and effect from and after its
passage, approval and publication,
as provided by law.
