Dear Sir:
The Brunswick Corporation, which is headquartered in Skokie, Illinois, is
planning to operate a new recreation center in the Deerbrook Shopping Plaza.
This recreation center will provide 32 bowling lanes, 8 billiard tables, a
snack bar and a cocktail lounge.
The purpose of this letter is to request your consideration and that of the
Village Board on our formal request for a license to serve beer and liquor
at this recreation center.
The Brunswick Corporation is presently operating over 215 bowling centers
worldwide. We presently control in excess of 150 liquor licenses. We
spend considerable time and effort to be sure that we operate fully within
the liquor laws in each of the various jurisdictions in which we operate.
We have a full -time staff person who spends all of her time working on
liquor licenses and liquor laws. We recognize our responsibility to the
communities in which we operate to abide by the law. We have an excellent
record of cooperation with all of the liquor authorities in the areas in
which we operate. We cannot absolutely promise that there would be no
violations. We can certainly and hereby do assure you that every reasonable
effort will be made to prevent any violations.
Attached are some photographs of the interior of our new bowling center.
These are provided to give you some examples of the first class operation
we will be opening.
As you are aware, the major bowling centers around the Village of Deerbrook,
presently serve liquor and beer to their customers. If we could not obtain
permission to do so at our proposed new center, our projections indicate that
we would be financially unable to justify the large investment required to
open such a recreation center at today's costs.

The equipment which we propose to install includes the Automatic Scorer for
bowling which is the latest improvement in the bowling equipment. It adds
interest to the game, makes the game available to more people, and gives the
game an added dimension.
I am also enclosing an Annual Report of Brunswick Corporation in the year
1971. Unfortunately, the 1972 Annual Report is not yet available. For
vour information. in 1972 our sales exceeded 600 million dollars.
If you would be interested in visiting an installation similar to the one
we plan to install in your village, you should visit our Northern Bowl,
558 East North Avenue, Glendale Heights, Illinois.
I would appreciate being advised if you can consider this formal request
for a Class I'D11 license to sell liquor at your next regularly scheduled
board meeting on March 19, 1973.
If you desire any additional information, please do not hesitate to call
me or Miss Annette N. Scotello, Licensing Coordinator. We will be glad to
provide you with any other facts.you might require.
