AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE MUNICIPAL CODE
OF DEERFIELD BY ADDING A NEW CHAPTER
21A
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF
DEERFIELD, LAKE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION That the Municipal Code of Deerfield of 1963, as amended,
ONE: be and the same is hereby further amended by adding a new
Chapter 21A thereto as follows:
"CHAPTER 21A - PARKING LOTS
"21A.01 Definitions -Lot Locations.)
1) For the purpose of this Ordinance, certain terms used herein are
defined as follows:
a) Village Parking Lot
Any off - street parking lot owned or leased by the Village
and set aside for the parking of vehicles, including the
following:
1. Lot No. 1 -,Located to the rear of the Village.Hall
2. Lot No. 2 — Located on the northwest corner of Rosemary
Terrace and Deerfield Road
3. Lot No. 3 - Located on the east side of Park Avenue
north of the Union Oil Station
4. Lot No. 4 — Located on the north side of the Village
Library
together with such other parking lots as may be acquired by the Village
and made available for parking of vehicles, either in addition to, or
in replacement of, any of the foregoing lots.
b) Village Vehicle License
A current license issued for a motor vehicle under the pro-
visions of Chapter 21 of this Code..
c) Stall
A parking space for a single vehicle, the boundaries of which
are indicated by lines or boundaries marked in any Village
parking lot.

"21A.02 Parking Hours.)
1) Motor vehicles (other than trucks, trailers or commercial
vehicles) may be parked without charge on any Village parking
lot for a continuous period not to exceed 24 hours.
"21A.03 Parking Within Stalls Required.)
1) The Village may, by appropriate lines or markers, divide any
parking lot into stalls. In such case, each vehicle shall be
parked within a stall, with its sides parallel to the adjacent
boundaries of the stall, and at least one foot distant therefrom.
"21A.04 Vehicles Excluded for Maintenance.)
1) The Village may exclude vehicles from all or any part of any
Village parking lot for such periods as may be reasonably required
to clear the lot of snow, or otherwise to improve or to maintain
it in proper condition. No vehicle shall be parked in any Village
parking lot during such hours, as may be designated by posted signs
announding such prohibition of parking for purposes of maintenance.
"21A.05 Certain Vehicles Excluded.)
1) No truck, trailer, or commercial vehicle may be parked in any
Village parking lot.
"21A.06 Repair Of Vehicles On Lot Prohibited.)
1) No vehicle that is not in operating.condition shall be parked
in any Village parking lot. No one shall repair or service any
vehicle on a Village parking lot except insofar as may be necessary
to facilitate removal of the vehicle from the lot.
"21A.07 Littering Lot Prohibited.)
1) No one shall deposit any rubbish, paper, litter, or debris in
any Village parking lot.
"21A.08 Village Liability Limited.)
1) The Village shall not be responsible for damage to any vehicle
while in a Village parking lot (whether or not such damage results
from the condition of the lot or its appurtenances), or for loss of
any property contained in such vehicle. The -permission given by
this ordinance to any person to park a vehicle in the Village parking
lot is conditioned upon his acceptance of the exemption of the
Village as in this 'section provided. Every person so parking a
vehicle in a Village parking lot shall be deemed to have accepted
and agreed to such exemption.

"21A.09 Penalty General.)
1) Any person violating any provision of this Chapter shall be
subject to a fine of not less than five dollars ($5.00) nor more
than one hundred dollars ($100.00) for each offense.
2) The fact that the vehicle parked in violation of the provisions
of this Chapter is registered with the Secretary of State of Illinois
in the name of the alleged violator, or that a Village vehicle license
has been issued in the name of or to the alleged violator, shall be
prima facie evidence that such person was in control of or was the
operator of the automobile or major vehicle at the time of the alleged
violation."

That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith, are, to the extent of such conflict, hereby
repealed.
That the Village Clerk is hereby directed to publish this
Ordinance in pamphlet form.
That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its passage, approval and publication, as provided
by law.
