AN ORDINANCE GRANTING A VARIATION
FROM THE PROVISIONS OF THE ZONING ORDINANCE
WITH RESPECT TO THE PROPERTY LOCATED
AT 836 DEERFIELD ROAD, DEERFIELD, ILLINOIS
WHEREAS, THE UNION OIL COMPANY OF CALIFORNIA has petitioned
for certain variations from the strict provisions of the Zoning
Ordinance of the Village of Deerfield, passed May 4, 1953, as
amended; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to notice duly published as required
by statute, a public hearing on said petition was held and conducted
by the Zoning Board of Appeals of-the Village of Deerfield; and
WHEREAS, the Zoning Board of Appeals has filed with
the President and Board of Trustees its written findings of fact
and recommendations.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD
OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD, LAKE AND COOK COUNTIES,
ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION That the findings of fact and recommendation
ONE: of the Zoning Board of Appeals are hereby
concurred in and adopted as the findings of
fact of the President and Board of Trustees.
SECTION That there are practical difficulties and
TWO: particular hardship in the way of carrying out
the strict letter of provisions of the Zoning
Ordinance of the Village of Deerfield, as applied to Petitioner's
property, which is legally described as follows:
That part of the Southeast 1/4 of the Southeast 1/4
of Section 29, Township 43 North, Range 12 East of the
Third Principal Meridian, commencing 285 feet West of
the Southeast corner of Section 29, thence North 233
feet, thence West 50 feet, thence South 50 feet, thence
West 119.75 feet, to the Easterly line of Park Avenue,
thence Southerly along the Easterly line of Park
Avenue to the center line of Deerfield Road, thence
East on the center line of Deerfield Road, to the place
of beginning in Lake County, Illinois;
said property commonly known as 836 Deerfield Road, Deerfield, Illinois.
SECTION That variations from the strict provisions
THREE: of Sections V -18, XVII -B -b, and B -3 -d
of the Zoning Ordinance of the Village of
Deerfield, passed May 4, 195 as amended with respect to the
property herein above described, are hereby granted so as to permit:
1. the construction and maintenance of a free
standing, globe shaped, non - revolving, lluminated
sign, imprinted with the numerals "76 ", measuring
.6 feet in diameter, and 113.04 square feet in
total surface area;
2. The location and erection of said free
standing sign to be not less than 37.5 feet from
the center line of Deerfield Road, in lieu of
the required 40 feet, and 18 inches from the
South property line and 3.5 feet from the West
property line, rather than the required 50 feet.
and all in accordance with the plans presented and filed with the
Zoning Board of Appeals.

That variations hereby granted are subject to
compliance by Petitioner with all other applicable

If you wish to record the ordinance, it would probably more
convenient to take it to the Recorder's office in the County
�D Building at Waukegan and pay the recording fee at that time. The
office operates on a cash basis. As I mentioned, I believe the
recording fee will be about $4.50..
