ORDINANCE AMENDING ARTICLE IX OF CHAPTER 8
OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE VILLAGE'OF DEERFIELD
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES
OF THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD, LAKE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION That Article IX of Chapter 8 of the
ONE: Municipal Code of Deerfield of 1963,
as amended, be and it is hereby further
amended by striking said Article in its entirety and
substituting in lieu thereof the following:
8.901 Creation.) There is hereby created a
Plan Commission, which shall consist of the
Village President, who sba ll be a member ex
officio and seven other members to be appointed
by the Village President by and with the advice
and consent of the Board of Trustees. The
President (with the approval of the Board of
Trustees) shall designate one member to be the
Chairman of the Plan Commission, to serve for
one (1) year. The same member may .b�o-�e�i not serve as

8.902 Term of Office.) Upon the expiration of
the terms of the members of the Plan Commission
serving as of the date of this amendatory
Ordinance or upon their resignation or vacation
bf office or upon the creation of additional
members, their immediate successors and the first
appointees to newly created offices shall be
appointed for staggered terms as follows:
one for 1 year
two for 2 years
two for 3 years
two for 4 years

Thereafter, the next succeeding appointees to the
office of member of the Plan Commission shall serve
for 3 -year terms. Vacancies shall be filled by
the President for the unexpired term in the same
manner as original appointments.
8.903 Organization) Members of the Plan Commission
may elect a Vice Chairman from among their fellow
members. The Plan Commission shall adopt rules of
procedure and, except as otherwise may be provided
in said rules, Robert's Rules of Order shall be
followed by the Plan Commission in the conduct
of its meetings. A copy of such rules as adopted
and each amendment thereto shall be filed with
the Village Clerk.
Members of the Plan Commission shall serve without
compensation. The Village'Manager shall provide
bhe Plan Commission with a secretary who shall
attend Plan Commission meetings and hearings, pre-
pare minutes thereof and perform such other secre-
tarial services as the Plan Commission may require
in the performance of its duties.
8.904 Powers.) The Plan Commission shall have
the following powers:
A. To prepare and recommend to the
Corporate Authorities a Comprehensive
Plan for the present and future develop-
ment or redevelopment of the Village.
B. To recommend changes from time to
time in the official Comprehensive Plan.
C. To prepare and recommend to the
Corporate Authorities from time to time,
plans for specific improvements in pur-
suance of the official Comprehensive Plan.
D. To give aid to the municipal officials
charged with the direction of projects
for improvements embraced within the offi-
cial Plan to further the making of these
projects and, generally, to promote the
realization of the official Comprehensive
Plan.
E. To consider and make recommendations
to the Corporate Authorities with respect
to the approval or disapproval of prelim-
inary and final plats of subdivision.
F. To hold public hearings upon applica-
tions for amendments to the'Zoning Ordinance,
applications for conditional uses and appli-
cations for planned developments and make
recommendations to the Corporate Authorities
with respect thereto.
G. To exercise such other powers as may
be conferred upon it by.the statutes of
the State of Illinois and by the Corporate
Authorities of the Village.
8.905 Duties.) It shall be the duty of the Plan
Commission to review the official Comprehensive Plan
of the Village and bi- annually to report to the
President and Board of Trustees on the status thereof
and to include in such report any recommended changes.
8.906 Records.) The Plan Commission shall keep
written records of its proceedings which shall
be open to inspection by the public at all times.
SECTION That all ordinances and parts of ordinances

of such conflict, hereby repealed.
SECTION That this Ordinance shall be in full force
THREE: and effect from and after its passage and
approval, as provided by law.
