R-68-X3RESOLUTION NO. R -68-
WHEREAS, the Village of Deerfield, on January 13, 1968, held a
special election to vote on the question of acquiring the brickyard
property and the issuance of bonds for such acquisition; and
WHEREAS, the success of a referendum .is dependent upon an informed
citizenry who will go to the polls to vote on the question; and
WHEREAS, the referendum on January 13, 1968 was approved by a two
to one majority of the large number of voters who voted in said election.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the President and Board of
Trustees of the Village of Deerfield, Lake and Cook Counties, Illinois,
commend the news media, �—d
e for the excel. lent coverage given in presenting
factual information to he voters of the Village with respect to the
issues involved; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said President and Board of Trustees
express its grateful appreciation to the individuals and organizations
who, through attendance at meetings, personal and telephone calls and
discussion of the question, were instrumental in getting out the vote
for a successful referendum.

WHEREAS, the Village of Deerfield conducted a public
referendum to acquire the National Brick Company property
for public use, and
WHEREAS, the sucnessful passage of this porposition
will enhance the general well -being of our Village,
particularly its recreational attributes, for the
Immediate future and for generations to come, and
WHEREAS, there appeared to be some .lack of interest
and activity anion# the electorate, based upon inadequate
information and unfamiliarity with the long- standing
brickyards pimblem, and
WHEREAS this referendum was set for less than two
weeks following the Christmas and New Years holidays,
thereby limiting the time In which campagin activity
could be conducted, and
WHEREAS, it was necess=ary for an org.abized , energetic,
and concentrated camp aign to inform voters on the
proposition,
NCW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Deerfield
Village Board of Trustees 6ffi.cially acknowledges,
commedns and thanks the voters of Deerfield for their
large and affirmative vote in support of the Brickyards
proposition. The Board particularly thanks the various
